State of Emergency...
That is what the folks around here are calling the protest they're going to have, surrounding the State of the Union address next Tuesday. I wrote up a press release and sent it out to all the media folks in our area, so if you don't see a story soon, start writing letters to ask why not?
BTW, before I get into the press release, as a cheatsheet, here is what we're annoyed about with the current powers-that-be:
First, let's get one thing straight. Jack Abramoff did not donate to Democrats. Not at all. Here is proof: Proof 1 Proof 2
Open Secrets is not a partisan site. You can look up anyone on there, so see, not partisan. Abramoff just DIDN'T give to Democrats.
Senior Staff and Dave had a big meeting today at the office. We were basically planning what is going to happen in the next 11 months, and I think we're on the right track. We've got five house parties planned this month. If you would like to host one, we'd love to come out! Just click here and let us know!
We have been working on coalescing our volunteer database, making sure everyone knows what is going on. Also, we have managed to lock up a few people to work as county coordinators, though we DEFINITELY need to get all eight counties locked up as soon as possible.
We discussed how important it is to speak to all the voters in the Sixth District, not just Democrats or those we think will vote for Dave. Part of being a New Voice and representing REAL people is representing ALL the real people, not just the ones who agreed that you should do the job.
As well, we will be getting new t-shirts and buttons soon, as well as potentially some new bumper stickers and magnets, with my new designs. I, of course, like to hear that
The White House has decided to spin their little Right Wing Media machine and make it spit out the following talking point: "The New York Times was wrong to leak this story about the NSA spying on our own citizens, just like the leakers who talked about Valerie Plame were wrong."
INCORRECT. The Plame case was a CLEAR violation of a law which states that it is illegal for government officials to reveal the identification of an UNDERCOVER OPERATIVE. That's it. That's the law that was broken when Valerie Plame was outed.
(I almost forgot: http://blog.bruderly06.com for the blog, http://www.bruderly.com is the website. Win in 06!)
The title of this blog is to indicate that, in my opinion, Kickoff was a giant success. I am still a little tired, after driving to Jacksonville and back twice in three days, but it was well worth it. Thank you VERY much to all the people who were so nice to me, who are supporting Dave's campaign and most importantly, who came out to support the Democratic Party, as we ready ourselves for the coming electoral battle.
Today, November 11th, is Veteran's Day. Before that, much to the surprise of some, it was Armistice Day. A-Day began in 1926, recognizing the date, the 11th day of the 11th month, at the 11th hour, of 1918, that World War I, previously called "The War to end all Wars" came to an end.
That is part of what we memorialize today, not only honoring the men and women who fought and died in war, but to remember and cherish the day and, in fact, the very moment, that war ended. A war so devastating that it was believed to end the very concept of war in the minds of world leaders.

For those caught unaware, a bit of history went down in D.C. today. Democratic Leader Senator Harry Reid invoked Rule 21:
"During a secret session, the doors of the chamber are closed, and the chamber and its galleries are cleared of all individuals except Members and those officers and employees specified in the rules or essential to the session."
The motion by Reid, and second by Senator Dick Durbin, was not a motion that could be voted on.
Senator Reid invoked this session, and has promised to continue invoking them every day, to force the Republican Senate, led by Senator Bill Frist, to finally begin "Phase II" of investigation into the true reasons behind the War On Iraq.
It's about damned time.
